Reach back into your lineage and dig up the bones that weren’t buried right. Inspired by Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel, Ferenc Molnar’s Liliom, and our own modern lives, The Wheel is an outdoor musical that weaves myth and adaptation into an immersive evening of ritual theater around a bonfire.
Drawing on the age-old human need to gather in a circle and share stories, The Wheel is more than just an unconventional retelling of Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan: it is a community ritual, in which the audience will take on roles, dance with the ocean, tend the fire, and sing together. We will candidly explore the show’s themes of domestic violence and intergenerational pain, while offering hope and a space of healing. Each performance will ask the question: “How has my family story shaped me — and can I break the cycles I’ve inherited?”
Featuring creative work and performances from Monica Miklas, Claire Chappelli, Tova Katz, Erika Schmidt, Tai Lee, Juju Lelliott, Sydney Kuhne, Brandon Baruch, Casey Baker, Seth Origitano, Brett Ryback, Amanda Meyers, Gillian Grassie, Marnina Schon, Micah O’Konis and Matthew Patrick Davis.
